17th, 18th case of novel Coronavirus has been confirmed

in Republic of Korea

○ The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) has confirmed 17th, 18th case of 2019 novel Coronavirus(2019-nCoV) on 5 February, 2020.

○ The 17th case is a 38-year-old Korean male, who had visited Singapore for attending conference from Jan 18 to Jan 24, 2020. With information of a confirmed case who is Malaysian, he visited to a local screening center(triage clinic center) on Feb 4, 2020. He tested positive on 5 Feb 2020 by the local(north Gyeonggi) Health and Environment Research Institute.

○ The 18th case is a 21-year-old Korean female, who is a daughter of 16th confirmed case. While she was in isolation, she tested positive on 5 Feb 2020 by the local(Gwang-ju) Health and Environment Research Institute.

○ Epidemiological investigation and contact tracing are underway. The additional information will be released soon.
