Updates on COVID-19 in Republic of Korea

□ As of 0:00, 2 August 2020, the total number of confirmed cases is 14,366 (including 2,441 imported cases), of which 13,259 cases have been discharged from isolation. There are 8 new local cases, 22 new imported cases, and 0 new deaths.

□ The current state* of major local clusters as of today (as of 12:00, 02 August) are as follows:
* The specific figures below may differ from the daily reported statistics (which are based on figures as of 0:00 today) or figures disclosed by local municipalities due to factors such as report timing and differences in the time period considered
○ Related to Shinmyung Investment company in Jongro-gu, Seoul City, 1 additional case was confirmed at the test conducted prior to the release from quarantine. In total, 13* cases have been confirmed.
* Index case = 1 case, acquaintances = 6 cases, related to Shinmyung investment company = 6 cases
○ Related to Central Daycare Center in Gangseo-gu, Seoul City, 2 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 31* cases have been confirmed.
* facility users = 17 cases, trainee = 1 case, facility users’ family members = 13 cases (1 case of duplication on 31 July)
○ A new cluster has been found, which is related to a coffee shop in Gangnam-gu, Seoul city. since an index case was confirmed on 27 July, 8 additional cases have been confirmed. In total, 9 cases have been confirmed. In-depth epidemiological investigation is underway for correlation between confirmed cases.
* A coffee shop (Holly’s at Seunreung station) = 4 (meeting within the coffee shop = 3, additional transmission = 1), a Korean restaurant in Yangjae-dong(Yangjae Jokbal Bossam) = 5 (facility user = 1, staff = 1, additional transmission = 3)
□ As of 0:00, 02 August, there were 22 imported cases, of which, 17 were confirmed at the point of entry, and 5 were confirmed in the community while in mandatory self-quarantine after arrival. The 22 cases consisted of 11 Korean nationals and 11 foreign nationals.
○ The (presumed) location of infection acquisition of the 22 new imported cases are: Americas (4) (US 3, Mexico 1) and Asia excluding China (18) (Iraq 8, Philippines 5, Lebanon 2, Russia 1, Indonesia 2)
