Updates on COVID-19 in Republic of Korea

□ As of 0:00, 8 August 2020, the total number of confirmed cases is 14,562 (including 2,544 imported cases), of which 13,629 cases have been discharged from isolation. There are 30 new local cases, 13 new imported cases, and 1 new death.

□ The current state* of major local clusters as of today (as of 12:00, 8 August) are as follows:
* The specific figures below may differ from the daily reported statistics (which are based on figures as of 0:00 today) or figures disclosed by local municipalities due to factors such as report timing and differences in the time period considered
○ After confirmation of one case from Eunpyeong-gu, who has been engaged in mission activities with the Seoul Mission Group, on August 4, and one family member was confirmed on the same day, the epidemiological investigation revealed that two confirmed persons* attended the same mission group on July 19. There were a total of 4 confirmed cases.

○ Regarding the family meeting in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, after the initial confirmation on August 5th, one family member in Seongdong-gu, on the same day, and two more acquainted couples (1 on 8.6, 1 on 8.7) have been confirmed. There are a total of four. In-depth investigation into contact management and infection route is ongoing.
○ In relation to the Banseok Church in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do (located in Pung-dong, Ilsan-dong-gu), eight more were confirmed compared to the previous day.
○ With regard to Joy 153 Church in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do (located in Jugyo-dong, Deokyang-gu), three more were confirmed compared to the previous day.
○ The (presumed) location of infection acquisition of the 13 new imported cases are: Americas (4) (US 4), Europe (1) (Austria 1), Africa (1) (Algeria 1), and Asia excluding China (7) (Bangladesh 1, Philippines 3, Kazakhstan 1, India 1, Russia 1).
□ As of 0:00, 8 August, there were 13 imported cases, of which, 5 were confirmed at the point of entry, and 8 were confirmed in the community while in mandatory self-quarantine after arrival. 5 were Korean nationals and 8 foreign nationals.
○ The (presumed) location of infection acquisition of the 13 new imported cases are: Americas (4) (US 4), Europe (1) (Austria 1), Africa (1) (Algeria 1), and Asia excluding China (7) (Bangladesh 1, Philippines 3, Kazakhstan 1, India 1, Russia 1).
○ As a result of boarding quarantine and total crew inspection of GRAND TAJIMA (departing from Manila, Philippines on July 29, with a total of 18 passengers) that arrived at Pyeongtaek Port on August 6, two crew members were confirmed on August 7th, and it has been ordered to disinfect the ship and take measures to prohibit movement.
* Contact Investigation: 16 crew members (isolated on board), no contacts with locals such as domestic workers
□ The National Institute of Health (under President Kwon Jun-wook) will hold a meeting of the Specialized Committee for treatment (7th), vaccine (7th), and quarantine goods and devices (8th) of the Public-Private Joint Corona 19 Response called ``Government-wide Private Action Promotion Committee'' on August 10.
□ KCDC announced that all 113 severe/critical patients in 34 hospitals who submitted their requests have been supplied with remdesivir, specially imported for COVID-19 treatment.
