Updates on COVID-19 in Republic of Korea

□ As of 0:00, 16 August 2020, the total number of confirmed cases is 15,318 (including 2,642 imported cases), of which 13,910 cases have been discharged from isolation. There are 267 new local cases, 12 new imported cases, and 0 new death.

□ The current state* of major local clusters as of today (as of 12:00, 16 August) are as follows:
* The specific figures below may differ from the daily reported statistics (which are based on figures as of 0:00 today) or figures disclosed by local municipalities due to factors such as report timing and differences in the time period considered
○ Related to the Sarang Jaeil Church in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul City, 190 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 249 cases have been confirmed.
- For those who visited Sarang Jaeil Church from 7 ~13 August are requested to self-quarantine and get tested immediately. Failure to comply with measures may result in penalty.
- According to an additional epidemiological investigation, further transmission can occur for participants of demonstration on 8 August 14:00~17:00 near Gyeongbok Palace and for petitioners who signed at the petition booth on 11 and 12 August 1100~15:00 at Hwajung station, Goyang City. If any participants of the demonstration or those who managed the booth has symptoms of COVID-19, they are asked to visit the screening center and get tested.
○ Related to Goldtrain at gangnam-gu, Seoul City, 3 additional cases (1 visitor, 2 acquaintance), and related to a group event in Yangpyung-gun, 2 additional cases were confirmed while under self-quarantine. In total, 56 cases have been confirmed.
- As a result of epidemiological investigation, there was a link between Goldtrain and a group event at Yangpyung-gun.
○ Related to an office building(Sinil Utovill officetel) in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul City, 2 additional case were confirmed. In total, 13* cases have been confirmed.

○ Related to Eunchun convalescent hospital in Gwanak-gu, Seoul City, 1 additional case (nurse) was confirmed from Seoul City Northern Hospital, where inpatients from Eunchun convalescent hospital were transferred to. In total, 9 cases have been confirmed.
○ Related to the Yangchun Rumination Church in Seoul City, 3 additional case(2 church members, 1 acquaintance) were confirmed while under self-quarantine. In total, 7 cases have been confirmed.
○ Related to Woori Jaeil Church in Yong-in City, Gyeonggi Province, 21 additional cases (17 church members, 4 acquaintance) were confirmed as a result of contact investigation of church members and their contacts. In total, 126 cases have been confirmed.
○ Related to a Starbucks in Paju City, Gyeonggi Province, 12 additional cases were confirmed as a result of contact investigation of visitors and their contacts. In total, 29 cases have been confirmed.
○ Related to a Jukjeon/Daeji highschool in Yong-in City, Gyeonggi Province, a student of an academy run by family member of Jukjeon highschool student got confirmed, and his/her 3 family members got confirmed during self-quarantine. In total, 13 cases have been confirmed.
○ Related to Busan Mechanical Engineering Highschool in Haewoondae-gu, Busan City, 4 additional casees were confirmed (a student under self-quarantine and 3 contacts). In total, 12 cases have been confirmed.
○ Related to a family at Yeonjae-gu, Busan City, after first confirmed case on 14 August, 6 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 7 cases have been confirmed. Contact investigation and route of transmission is underway.

○ Related to the nightlife venues at Sangmu district, Gwangju City, after a first comfirmed case on 12 August, 6 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 7 cases have been confirmed.

□ As of 0:00, 16 August, there were 12 imported cases, of which none were confirmed at the point of entry, and 12 were confirmed in the community while in mandatory self-quarantine after arrival. 3 were Korean nationals and 9 foreign nationals.
○ The (presumed) location of infection acquisition of the 12 new imported cases are: China(1), Americas (1) (US 1), Africa (1) (Kenya 1), Europe(1) (France 1) and Asia excluding China (8) (India 4, Japan 1, Kazakhstan 1).
