Infection acquisition location (presumed):

- Asia excluding China: Philippines 3, Kazakhstan 2

- America: US 3

- Africa: Ethiopia 1

With recent rise in infections through Sarang Jeil Church, Gwanghwamun rally, and holiday trips, there is a high risk of nationwide transmission of the current outbreak in the capital area.

82% of new cases today are in the greater capital area, and there have been new cases in 16 cities and provinces excluding Jeju.

KCDC advises the public to cancel or postpone outings, social gatherings, events, or travel plans and stay home this weekend.

With the weekend coming up, there is concern of additional transmissions occurring through weekend social gatherings or religious events. KCDC advises religious communities to continue to comply with the measure including having weekend services online.

All churches in the greater capital area are required to have all worship services online only. All church-hosted in-person events, gatherings, and group meals are prohibited.

Since there is possibility of transmission to other regions of the country, KCDC requests religious communities in other areas to also follow the guidelines as precautionary measure such as switching to online-only service/mass/prayer meetings.

With the Social Distancing level raised to Level 2 for the greater capital area on 16 August, KCDC asks residents of the capital area to follow the Social Distancing Level 2 Guidelines.

Amidst concerns of nationwide transmission, residents of other regions are also requested to follow the guidelines.
