In light of the recent rapid surge in COVID-19 cases, social distancing guidance level was raised to Level 2 for the Seoul Metropolitan Area (Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi) and Level 1.5 for the Honam region (Gwangju, Jeonbuk, and Jeonnam) for a two-week period starting from 0:00 of November 24.

* Jeonuk and Gwangju entered level 1.5 on November 23 and 19, respectively.

In the spirit of leading by example, all public sector organizations across the nation including central and local government agencies, public enterprises, and public institutions will be instructed to apply various internal work environment policies in compliance with Social Distancing Level 2 guidance, such as work-from-home for 1/3 of the workforce, spreading out work and lunch hours, mask wearing in all indoor spaces, and suspending all non-essential* business trips.

* Exceptions include work related to COVID-19 response or public safety

In accordance with special guidelines on meetings, work dinner, and gatherings in the public sector, all non-essential gatherings should be canceled or postponed or held in non-face-to-face ways such as online. If in-person gathering is unavoidable, dining should be avoided, and masks and other preventive measures should be strictly followed.

KCDC stressed the gravity of the current situation and asked everyone to participate in social distancing together, including mask wearing in public spaces, hand washing, frequent ventilation and disinfection. KCDC also asked the public to postpone all non-essential gatherings and stay home as much as possible to protect health and safety of all people.
