All the confirmed cases are imported cases, and there is no community transmitted cases reported today. Imported cases were from Europe(1), Americas(1), and other(Kuwait, 1).

In the recent 'COVID-19 national thereat awareness survey' conducted targeting 1,000 adults nationwide, results have shown that the people trust and take considerable interest regarding the government's daily press briefing twice a day.

   * source: 4th survey on national threat awareness on COVID-19 (Seoul National University Public Health Graduate School Prof. Myungsoon Yoo)

   - 79.3% answered that they are 'attentive' to the government's press briefing conducted by KCDC and Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, 77.4% answered that it was 'useful,' and 75.3% answered that they 'trust' the press briefings.

KCDC stated that it will continue its efforts in providing rapid, transparent and scientific evidenced-based information in order to assist nation's accurate risk assessment as well as minimizing the damage by COVID-19 outbreak.

   - KCDC also shared its deepest gratitudes to journalists and media who are recording Korea's COVID-19 response measures and helping the nation to overcome crisis through everyday articles and news reports.

May 5th in Korea is 'Children's day' but in the health sector, it is also 'Hand Hygiene Day,' designated by WHO.

   - Washing hands is an effective and scientifically proven way to prevent the spread of the infectious diseases by blocking the virus from entering the body through the hands. The importance of hand washing has been emphasized several times during this COVID-19 response measures, which is spread by saliva(droplets).

As "Washing hands for 30 seconds, cough/sneeze into your sleeve," is included as the 3rd rule of Everyday Infection Prevention Rules for Everyone, KCDC asked people to cooperate in creating a hand hygiene environment by practicing hand washing in daily life as before, and by providing soap and hand sanitizer which can be used to keep hands clean in private and public places.

< Hand washing guidelines in Infection Prevention Rules for Everyone>

Wash your hands with running water and soap for more than 30 seconds or use hand sanitizer to clean your hands after using the bathroom, after coming back home, blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.

Do not touch the eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

Personal and public places should be equipped with

KCDC emphasized that the 'Distancing in daily life' which will take effect tomorrow does not mean we will return to the same routine as before, but to the "new normal life" which people will practice infectious disease prevention rules on a regular basis.

   - It means that in order to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the local community, the nation will carry out social and economic activities while simultaneously practicing infectious disease prevention measures.

   - KCDC also encouraged that individuals and society should work together to keep the distance in their daily lives, keeping in mind that we can return to 'enhanced social distancing' at any time if the situation worsens.
