As of 0:00, 11 September 2020, the total number of confirmed cases is 21,919 (including 2,963 imported cases), of which 17,616 cases have been discharged from isolation. There are 161 new local cases, 15 new imported cases, and 4 new deaths.

Major local clusters as of 12:00 today (11 September):

Related to August 15 Seoul rallies, 7 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 564 cases have been confirmed.

- Rally related (213), further transmissions (295), police (8), under investigation (48)

- 267 cases total in capital area (Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi)

- 297 cases total in other areas

 

Related to Severance Hospital in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul City, 9 additional cases were confirmed from contact investigation. In total, 19 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to Nichiren Shoshu Seoul Mission (religious facility), 2 additional cases were confirmed from contact investigation. In total, 22 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to Coupang logistics center in Songpa-gu, Seoul City, 3 additional cases were confirmed from contact investigation. In total, 16 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to Jongno-gu Office worker in Seoul City, 3 additional cases were confirmed from contact investigation. In total, 11 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to a construction site in Dobong-gu, Seoul City, first case was confirmed on 8 September and 6 additional cases were confirmed from contact investigation. In total, 7 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to an online hiking group in the greater capital area, 6 additional cases were confirmed from contact investigation. In total, 35 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to an elderly day care center in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi Province, first case was confirmed on 9 September and 13 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 14 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to TR Innovation / Sara Queen (door-to-door sales business), 2 additional cases (Sara Queen) were confirmed from contact investigation. In total, 13 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to Saebom Convalescent Hospital in Gyeyangg-gu, Incheon City, first case was confirmed on 9 September and 3 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 4 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to Seomgim Convalescent Hosopital in Geumsan-gun, Chungnam Province, first case was confirmed on 10 September and 7 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 9 cases have been confirmed.

 

Related to health supplement business seminar in Daejeon City, 12 additional cases were confirmed. In total, 51 cases have been confirmed.

- Health supplement seminar (17), Gyeryong Restaurant (18), Wellbeing Sauna (8), forex trading seminar (8)

- (Route of transmission) 2 workers of Wellbeing Sauna attended health supplement seminar on 25 August

- (Route of transmission) Someone who presumably contracted the virus from the health supplement seminar attended forex trading seminar on 28 August

 

Imported cases as of 0:00, 11 September:

15 new imported cases

- 9 confirmed at the point of entry and 6 were confirmed in the community while in mandatory self-quarantine after arrival

- 4 Korean nationals and 11 foreign nationals

Elderly and severe/critical cases:

Ages 60 and above accounted for 34% of confirmed cases during the last one month (12 August 11 September)

175 severe/critical cases today

- Age group:

Ages 60 and above: 153 cases

Ages 50-59: 15 cases

Ages 40-49: 6 cases

Ages 30-39: 1 case

* Critical: patients treated with mechanical ventilator, ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)

* Severe: patients treated with oxygen mask and high flow oxygen therapy

* ICU treatment is decided based on the need for intensive care based on factors such as clinical condition and presence of any underlying medical condition and may differ from severe and critical case classification criteria. The number of severe/critical cases may not match the number of patients in ICU.

 

Because of the higher risk of developing severe symptoms if infected, particular caution is advised for the elderly population and facilities commonly used by the elderly.

Religious facilities:

- No in-person events including regular worship service

- No in-person social gathering, events, or eating together

Door-to-door sales / multilevel marketing / investment firms / health supplement sales businesses:

- The middle aged and elderly are advised to avoid business seminars or information sessions related to door-to-door sales, real estate investment, virtual currency, or health supplement businesses.

Healthcare facilities and care facilities commonly used by the elderly:

- Strict entry/exit control

- Staff of such facilities should try to avoid social gatherings or visiting publicly used facilities

- If a resident/patient shows symptoms, help them to get tested as soon as possible

- Mask wearing and other prevention measures

General guidance:

- Stay home as much as possible and avoid contact with others

- Wear mask if going out

- Visit screening clinic to get treated/tested immediately if feeling sick

 

KCDC stressed the importance of public participation in containing the COVID-19 outbreak and requested the public for continued support of and participation in social distancing guidelines.

 

Public Guidance for Level 2 Social Distancing

Do not go to work if feeling sick

- Call KCDC call center by dialing 1339 or contact local public health center or screening clinic

Postpone or cancel non-essential outings, social gatherings, events, or travel

- Essential travel includes getting medical care, buying necessities, or to going to work

- At restaurants or cafes, order takeout rather than dining in

- Home training or outdoor exercising is recommended in place of going to gyms

- For social activities, utilize PC or smartphones to have online meetings

- Use online shopping over physical stores

If going out, wear mask and follow infection prevention guidelines

- Do not visit crowded, confined, or close-contact places with poor ventilation

- Wear mask indoors as well as outdoors whenever 2m distancing can’t be maintained

- Ensure mask covers mouth and nose completely and do not touch mask

- Keep mask on except to drink or eat

- Maintain physical distance from other people (2m recommended, 1m minimum)

- No droplet-producing activities such as shouting, singing out loud, or chanting

- No physical contact with others such as handshakes or hugs

Mask should cover mouth and nose completely

Do not touch mask surface with hands

Keep mask on at all times except while eating or drinking


Guidance for managers and staff of facilities used by the elderly

Do not visit publicly used facilities such as cafes, restaurants, bars, pubs, singing rooms, and PC cafes

Cancel or postpone travel plans or social gatherings

Do not go to work if having suspected symptoms and get tested

Carefully follow infection prevention guidelines including mask wearing and hand washing while at work

Restrict access of outsiders

Disinfect frequently touched surfaces often

Ventilate often including while air conditioner is on

If an inpatient or resident shows fever, cough, or other suspected symptoms, help them to get tested as soon as possible
