Trends in prevalence of current smoking among Korean adolescents, 2007-2018

The prevalence of current smoking among adolescents in Korea dropped 6.6 percentage point (%p), from 13.3% in 2007 to 6.7% in 2018. The 2018 data indicated that the prevalence of current smoking was 2.5 folds higher among schoolboys (9.4%) than among schoolgirls (3.7%) (Figure A), and 3.3 folds higher among high school students (9.8%) than among middle school students (3.0%) (Figure B).
