Trends in prevalence of current and excessive drinking among Korean adolescents, 2007-2018

The prevalence of current drinking among adolescents in South Korea decreased from 27.8% in 2007 to 16.9% in
2018, with the reduction of 10.9 percentage points (%p), and that of excessive drinking also dropped from 12.8%
in 2007 to 8.9% in 2018, with the reduction of 3.9 %p. The 2018 data indicated that out of 100 adolescents, nine
were found to be drinking excessively (Figure A).
