In Korea, the number of living organ donors is relatively high and continues to increase. Recently, the importance of psychosocial evaluations and the management of living organ donors in Korea has been emphasized. This study developed a policy of evaluation and management for living organ donors by conducting statistical, legal, and institutional reviews, reviewing the medical literature of living organ donors, and holding consensus meetings of related experts. As a result, this study presented legal, clinical, and research recommendations. This study was critical because it confirms the necessity of psychosocial evaluation, management, and the development of a legal system to protect both living organ donors and organ recipients in Korea.
