주요내용

The emerging epidemic of Physical activity and Metabolic syndrome in South Korean adult importance of studying the metabolic syndrome in Korean adults who are becoming progressively more inactive . No study in korea has examined the association of metabolic syndrome with physical activity in adults. middle to vigorous physical activity (PA) levels among adults. We aimed to examine this association in a Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2007.

METHOD: a cross sectional study used data from The Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2007. Total 8169 adults(19-64years) male 3540 , female 4629, age(42.23±12.01)
Metabolic syndrome was defined according to International Diabetes Federation criteria and physical activity measured use questionnaire amount of days per week middle and vigorous physical activity
The association between physical activity and metabolic syndrome was assessed by using multiple logistic regression models.

RESULT: Overall 21.7% of the adult had metabolic syndrome. BMI was effective factor for metabolic syndrome and age are also. After adjusting BMI, age the odds ratio of metabolic syndrome among adult in the lowest physical activity group(<5days/week) were three times higher than middle physical activity(>= 5days/week) group(OR=3.4, 95% CI 3.0,3.9) and three times higher than vigorous physical activity(>=3days/week) group(OR=3.0, 95% CI 2.7, 3.5).

CONCLUSION: A regular physical activity lifestyle appears to be associated with a lower odds of metabolic syndrome in Korean adults.
