KCDC strives health facilities to enhance prevention and control practices on 2019-nCoV infection


The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(KCDC) strives health facilities to enhance infection prevention and control practices. With an influx of visitors from Chinese during Lunar New Year holiday, it may expand 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV).

 

President Moon Jae-in ordered to prevent the spread of the 2019-nCoV during Lunar New Year at an council briefing.

 

KCDC will discuss countermeasure with the experts from society of emergency medicine, regional emergency medical centre for thorough infection prevention. Meanwhile, KCDC will distribute the guidelines for emergency department to preparation for infection prevention at health facilities and community response, and guide health care provider for initial screening process. KCDC call on health facilities to follow infection prevention guidelines.

 

KCDC emphasizes to the public and the health facilities for the early detection and prevention of the spread of 2019-nCoV infection.

 

As of 22 January, Patient Under Investigation(PUIs) are 16 in total with one confirmed case and 4 cases currently being tested. As 11 people were diagnosed as negative and released from isolation.
