Updates on the confirmed cases(as of 30 Jan.) of Novel Coronavirus

 

As of 30 January, 2020, there have been 244 Patient Under Investigation(PUIs) and four confirmed cases in total, with no new case. 199 cases were already discharged after tested negative, and 41 cases currently being tested. Three confirmed cases are in stable condition, but the fourth case is in intensive care. 15 out of 387 contacts of confirmed cases were classified as Patient Under Investigation (PUIs) and diagnosed as negative.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) has conducted the thorough investigation for travelers who entered ROK from Wuhan city, China. It includes a total of 2,991 (domestics: 1,160, foreigners: 1,831). Currently, 701 (65%) domestics are under monitoring and were classified as suspected cases. 1,433 (78%) foreigners have already left and the rest 398 are tracing.

 

KCDC has completed the validation process of n-CoV genetic test. The diagnostic test will be available at 18 Health and Environmental Research Institutes on 31 January 2020 and private clinics from early February.

WHO (World Health Organization) has decided to reconvene its WHO emergency committee, as human-to-human transmission cases were reported in countries of Germany, Japan, and Vietnam, outside of China.

 

KCDC will pay attention to the global status and response of novel coronavirus with Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) of WHO Emergency Committee, while maintaining the total response system for the health and safety of our people.
