KDCA announced on March 3, 2021 that there were 2 cases reported as deaths following COVID-19 vaccination and that a committee will be convened to investigate and assess whether there is causal association.

One case is a 50-year-old male who was an inpatient at a convalescent hospital. He complained of chest pain, nausea, and shortness of breath 11 hours after receiving AstraZeneca vaccine for COVID-19 around 9:00 on March 2 and received medical intervention but died at 7 a.m. on March 3.

The other case is a 60-year-old male who was an inpatient at a convalescent hospital. He complained of symptoms including fever and whole body muscle pain 33 hours after receiving AstraZeneca vaccine for COVID-19 around 2:30 on February 27. His condition improved but later deteriorated, leading to his death on March 3 at 10:00 a.m.

For both cases, the bereaved families have requested that further detailed information not be disclosed.
