KDCA Runs National Infectious Diseases Surveillance System to Enhance Data Processing Speed

Osong, 3rd May 2023 The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said today that it is working to integrate the quarantine information system, the infectious disease information system, and the COVID-19 information system into the National Infectious Diseases Surveillance System.

Those three systems being separated contributed to preventing information sharing, which resulted in delayed response to infectious disease outbreaks. The separation of those systems also created difficulty in infectious disease research and analysis.

However, the National Infectious Diseases Surveillance System will help facilitate the speed of infectious disease data processing. The integrated system will also highly enhance flexibility in data processing and infectious disease response even when another emerging infectious disease emerges.
