KCDC announces 10 infectious diseases to watch out for and five action rules in the first half of 2017

□ The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC, Director Jung Ki-Suck) selected ten infectious diseases to watch out for in the first half of 2017 for which it is planning to strengthen the response system and announced five action rules for infectious disease prevention that can be practiced by citizens in everyday life. The KCDC also announced a plan for the "Key Projects of the KCDC in 2017," which include promotion of the Tuberculosis Safe Country implementation plan and strengthening of hepatitis C management.


【 Five Emerging and Recurring Infectious Diseases to Watch out for in the First Half of the Year 】
□ The KCDC has selected five emerging and recurring infectious diseases to watch out for in the first half of the year by considering macroscopic environmental changes including climate change, possibility of disease inflow into Korea through international exchange and social ripple effects of the diseases, such as fatalities, and is planning to further strengthen the preparedness and response system.


【 Five Infectious Diseases to Watch out for in Korea in the First Half of the Year 】
□ In Korea, the occurrence of mumps, chicken pox and hand-foot-and-mouth disease is expected to increase in the spring and summer. Particular attention should be paid to hepatitis A and legionellosis.


【 Five Action Rules for Infectious Disease Prevention 】
□ Most infectious diseases can be prevented by following simple preventative measures. Therefore, the KCDC announced the selection of five action rules for infectious disease prevention that can be easily followed by citizens in everyday life.
