QuickStats: Proportions and trends in hypertension awareness, treatment, and control in Korean adults aged 30 years and over

Since 1998, the proportions of Korean adults (aged 30 years and over) who are aware of their hypertensive status, who get treated for their hypertension, and who have it controlled, all steadily increased. After 2007 however, the pace of increase slowed down as shown by the flattening shape of the graph below. In 2016, the proportions of hypertension awareness and treatment were 68.9% and 65.0%, respectively, and the proportion of controlled hypertension among treated population was 1.5 times higher than that among the entire hypertensive population (70.8% vs 46.5%) (Figure A).
