Abstract

The Joint External Evaluation (JEE) was conceptualized in 2016 to enhance WHO IHR core capacities of member states. JEE is conducted on a voluntary basis. WHO plans to implement JEE in 60 member states each year. As of December 31, 2016, 28 member states including the United States have completed JEE and 60 member states requested WHO for JEE by the end of May 2017. On November 2016, the Republic of Korea (ROK) applied to take JEE in 2017. It has been agreed that JEE for ROK will take place during August 28-September 2. Since multisectoral collaboration among different ministries is critical for the JEE process, close communications and meetings are planned for completing self-assessment of the JEE tool and the JEE process.
