On March 18, 2024, the KDCA and the WHO agreed to  strengthen cooperation in pandemic preparedness and response and strive for designation as a WHO Collaborating Center (WHO CC) to boost their contribution to the international community.

The KDCA will contribute to enhancing health security though its designation as the first WHO CC for Pandemic Preparedness and Response in Asia.

Moreover, on March 25, the KDCA actively participated in an unidentified infectious disease field training evaluation in the Philippines, sharing Korea's valuable experience of effectively responding to infectious disease crises.

With Korea’s elevated status, the KDCA is poised to engage in collaborative efforts with the WHO on various international projects to proactively tackle the challenges posed by future pandemics.
