Background: This study was performed in order to identify the clear risk factors related to sustained suicide problem of Korean adolescents. Among the various risk factors, we focused on the socioeconomic factor that was influencing great effect in modern societyrelationship between socioeconomic status and suicidal behavior in Korean adolescents. Methods: We used data source from the 2013 Korean Youth’s Risk Behavior Web-based Survey which including included 72,435 students who completed the surveystudent participants. Adjusted We adjusted for sex, age, school achievement, depressive mood and calculated the odds ratios between socioeconomic factors with and adolescents’s suicide suicidal behavior by multivariable logistic regression analysis. Socioeconomic status (SES) was measured using theby Family Affluence Scale (FAS) score and parental education level. Results: Socio’economic’ status by FAS score showed a reversed J trend association with suicide suicidal behavior. Not only low SES but also high SES increased adolescent’s adolescents’ suicide riskrisk of suicidal behavior. On the other hand, ‘socio’economic status by parental education level showed different results by genderonly showed a correlation in one gender, with only . Conclusion: In order to address the To solve the Korean adolescents’ suicide problemhigh rate of suicide among Korean adolescents, we should consider as risk factors both low and high socio’economic’ socioeconomic status, depression, low school achievement, and defective family family dysfunction, especially mother is absentabsence of a mother figure in the household. And more considerations to depressive male students and low academic record female students by genderFurther, depressive male students and low academically achieving female students are at higher risk of engaging in suicidal behavior. |
