KDCA Operates Temporary Screening Sites

at Expressway Rest Areas during Chuseok Harvest Holidays

Temporary screening sites will be operated at nine expressways during the holidays to prevent the spread of the virus.

Osong, 7^th September 2022 ━ The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said that it will operate temporary screening sites at nine expressway rest areas during the Chuseok harvest holidays from 7^th to 15^th September.

The purpose is to provide the public with easier access to COVID-19 testing and thus prevent the spread of the virus, as millions of people are expected to travel to their hometowns during the holidays.

The availability of PCR testing at the temporary screening sites is open to everyone for free from 9^th to 12^th September, while the availability for the period of 7^th to 8^th September and for the period of 13^th to 15^th September is open only to priority groups for free.

Priority groups for PCR testing refer to the following: (a) those aged 60 years and over, (b) those with an epidemiological link, (c) those working at facilities vulnerable to infection, (d) those who tested positive on a rapid antigen test or an emergency screening test, and (e) those who need to take a PCR test according to a doctor’s note.

The availability of free PCR testing is confined to temporary screening sites at expressways during the holidays. The operating periods and hours also may be subject to change according to situations of local governments.
