The Health Capacity Building Learning Platform (HECAB) aims to transfer specialized technical expertise from KDCA to core healthcare personnel in low- and middle- income countries.
Objective
GHSCO expands its efforts to strengthen the capacity of infectious disease response among its partners who face greater health challenges. By offering the education and training program with technical support from KDCA’s experts, GHSCO works to build shared expertise and deepen cooperation with countries aiming to enhance their public health response capacities.
Target
Healthcare personnel from GHSA member states and particularly low- and middle- income countries

*To build a network among trainees, post-implementation review with best practices, satisfaction survey, and webinars will be conducted after the in-person training in ROK.

Common Module_ Biosafety (TBD)
This course covers basic training for biosafety level 3 facility officers.
- Fundamentals of BL3 laboratory
- Hands-On & Theoretical training for BL3 laboratory and biosafety management
- Emergency evacuation exercise
Course_ Epidemiology (TBD)
This course focuses on strengthening health emergencies preparedness and enhancing response to disease outbreaks
- Epidemiological response strategies
- Theoretical analysis of epidemiological indicators
- Case introduction for epidemiological indicators & Introduction and practice for analytical tool
- Epidemiological investigation using ICT
- Field-based epidemiological response
Highlights
Program 2025
To strengthen laboratory capacities in ASEAN member states, this program aims to enhance the diagnostic capacity of laboratories across ASEAN member states.

This program offers foundational to intermediate-level training in laboratory diagnosis. It includes hands-on practical training, field visits, and the development of action plan for implementation in participants’ home countries. The program’s detailed courses are currently being developed and will be piloted in the near future. Currently, the program is conducted annually, with plans to increase its frequency over time.
Target: Approximately 15 working-level officials in the area of infectious disease diagnosis.
Schedule: The upcoming invitational training will take place between June and July 2025.
