What is a quarantine management area?

  • A quarantine management area is a region where quarantine infectious diseases are prevalent or there is a risk of an outbreak, making it possible for such diseases to be introduced into the country.
  • Individuals who have visited (stayed in or transited through) a quarantine management area and are experiencing symptoms such as fever or cough must submit the Q-CODE (or health status questionnaire) to the quarantine officer.

What is a key quarantine management area?

  • A key quarantine management area is a designated quarantine management area where a quarantine infectious disease is prevalent or poses a risk of outbreak, and is highly fatal and contagious, requiring intensive quarantine measures.
  • - Individuals who have visited (stayed in or transited through) a key quarantine management area must submit the Q-CODE (or health status questionnaire) to the quarantine officer.

Designation and Release Procedures

  • Key quarantine management areas and quarantine management areas are designated by the Commissioner of the Disease Control Agency after conducting quarterly monitoring of the incidence of foreign quarantine infectious diseases and risk assessments for each quarantine infectious disease, following a review by the Quarantine Advisory Committee in accordance with Article 5 of the Quarantine Act
