Definition of nationally designated inpatient treatment beds
“Nationally designated inpatient treatment beds” are infectious disease management facilities established and supported by the Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency for the purpose of isolation and inpatient treatment of patients with new infectious diseases during normal times and public health crises.

Project details
- To prepare for the occurrence of new infectious disease patients, expand and operate nationally designated inpatient treatment bed facilities equipped with negative pressure equipment for isolation treatment to early prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- As of December 2024, 38 hospitals are operating 599 beds (270 negative pressure, 329 general) nationwide, maintaining the operational readiness of nationally designated inpatient treatment beds through assessments of bed appropriateness and other evaluations.
